Once upon a time, 2 children and approximately a million years ago, I wore makeup. I NEEDED makeup. I was one of those people that had to have my full face on before walking across the street to check the mail in case someone saw me!!! 😱. If there was a fire in my house, my eye lash curler was at the top of my list of things to grab before evacuating.
And then I had kids. My priorities shifted quite suddenly when I discovered how much a toddler can destroy in the time it takes me to apply my mascara. I now consider it a win to be able to leave the house with my shirt on the correct way, let alone put on the chapstick my daughter appears to have hidden.
The thing is, that pre-child me is still in here somewhere, and my vanity takes a serious hit whenever I walk past a mirror. I am pale. Like, a shade lighter than death-warmed-over kind of pale (potential name for a foundation, maybe?). I need something on my face so that I don’t look like a vampire with a severe case of anemia.
For a while I considered eyelash extensions, but the thought of having to go in for frequent fills sort of defeated the low-maintenance solution I wanted. Then I found out about lash lift and tints, and booked an appointment asap with Glow Beauty Bar, a local woman here in Nanaimo.
The procedure is relaxing and entirely pain free, and is the perfect mommy break when you need some time away from your kids 😜. Jaci, the owner of Glow Beauty Bar, had me lay down and then brushed my lashes out. (Ew, check out my super “blah” lashes! They have zero curl and basically point right down to the floor).
Silicone pads were placed on my eye lids, and then my lashes were pulled up and over to shape the curl. Some people may find this part a little bit uncomfortable, put I actually love it! There is even tension across the lash line, and it feels quite invigorating! The inside of your upper eyelid gets exposed to air for a little while because of how the lashes are pulled up, and, again, while some people might find this a little uncomfortable, it is in no way painful.
Product was now applied. I have no idea what this does, but the color is pretty 😉.
And now we nap.
Tint is applied.
The whole procedure takes about an hour, give or take, depending on how stubborn your lashes are (I have an eye that needs a little bit more coaxing than the other one. Kinda like my children….). But check out that curl!!!!!
Basically, I’m obsessed with my lash lift and tint. I do not have to do a single thing in the morning and it looks like I have mascara on! My maintenance includes an occasional fluff with a dry eyelash comb if I feel like it, and a tiny application of coconut oil before bed to keep them moisturized. Easy sneazy!!!
If I am feeling extra glam, and the husband is home to watch the kids, I will pop on a coat of mascara for funsies. Bam!!
If you are in Nanaimo and want to get yours done, I 100% recommend Jaci at Glow Beauty Bar. Check out her IG page (linked 👈🏻) to see her portfolio and contact information!!
I find my lift lasts about 4-5 weeks and my tint even longer than that. I sleep on my face, though (habits…😬), and I have read reviews from others who can get over two months out of their lifts!!!
So, my fellow time-constrained-and-sleep-deprived mamas, have you booked yours, now?
